Photoshop or fix??- Week 5

While in lecture of EME2040, my professor showed us this youtube video, and it was highly disturbing to me. The pressure on girls to look beautiful and flawless is pressed every day into girls minds. Especially when it comes to young girls, it is important for them to know the work that goes into a picture of a model in order to make it look just right.

We also looked at old photo graphs that had been edited by the government in order to change the meaning of the photo. There was a picture of protesters from the Vietnam War, and one of the people had gotten shot. A girl is on the ground hovering over the man whom was shot.

Check out the photo. Pay close attention to the fence post above her head, because in the published photo, it was removed.

With that being said, I have also found an appreciation for photoshop. Building layers with tools is super fun! In class we are learning how to make clouds with grass. There is a tool that allows you to paint multiple blades of grass. After, I went home and downloaded the 30 day free trial of photoshop to learn new things. I am looking forward to our upcoming project using photoshop and I plan on using it a lot in the future.

PR and photoshop?
The Dove Evolution is an extremely famous pr campaign. Dove focused their attention on real women, and the campaign was extremely succesful. Advertising most often times makes their representatives of beauty a skinny women. It can be seen above, that dove did not use that method, and it was PR that made the desision to use real women.
